Abstract

This review analyzes the play Soñar despierto es la realidad (Dreaming Awake Is Reality), directed by Luciana Simionato and performed at the Carne Fresca XX cycle of the Faculty of Arts of UNICEN (Tandil, 2025). Drawing on semiotic and post-dramatic perspectives, it examines how the staging constructs meaning through non-verbal signs: lighting, sound, body, and space. The review argues that the work aligns with the features of post-dramatic theatre as described by Lehmann, insofar as it privileges sensory experience over linear narrative. It also analyzes the use of sound technology as a resource integrated into poetic dramaturgy, distinguishing it from mere spectacle. The review concludes that the play constitutes a scenic experience that invites the audience to construct meaning through perception rather than rational understanding.
