Mounting and choreographing the stage archive. A possible approach to Laura Valencia's personal collections
Keywords:
personal archive, performing arts, remain, affectionAbstract
The personal collections of the performing artist Laura Valencia are made up for photographs, scripts, posters, scenic objects, costumes, among other materials that testify the plays she had made between 1990 and 2021 in La Plata, Buenos Aires. Based on my encounters with the artist and the deployment of these materials, I consider the ways we can organize these collections attending their affective dimension. To do this, I review the notion of remain in relation to the perspectives of the affective turn, the concept of montage and choreographic access to the archive.
