Lithuania in Las Pampas: Reflections from the experience of a film series on History and Culture of a “distant free Lithuania” in Tandil

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to review the way in which several editions of a Lithuanian 'ethnic’ films seasons were carried out. Some of the aims we have set ourselves are: to review the contexts in which it emerged, which are the objectives of these films seasons and the conditions of production of these films seasons . On the other hand we will also try to account for our position as 'leaders or responsible’ of the films seasons, the way in which we choose the works to project and the analysis that we make of it; as well as paying attention to the public reception . Here we argue as a hypothesis that the films seasons is an effective 'device’ to make known to Lithuania, its history and its community, to provide a place of meeting and discussion among the members of the community.
