Price of punishment delivery: "The native, the tanguero and her prostitute daughter" from Antonio Berni to Ramona Montiel

Antonio Berni is one of the most important Argentine artists of the 20th century. He has responded to his contemporary trends, without losing his roots in social and political reality. Taking into account his diferent works and the times in which they took inspiration it is possible to see the artist's diferent specific techniques, since he has used very diverse supports and materials which responded to very different trends. Even if, for some of the Argentine artists prior to the 60s, politics did not mean an issue to manifest about, this artist did, although by then not as intensely as in his later years. Each of his works has a very interesting critical background. In the following pages we propose a critical reflection about his production from the 60s starting from the character of Ramona Montiel, present in the work of Berni, made from 1962 to 1966. In this way we analyze the figure of the painter and the character, his concerns and the thoughts that positioned this artist during the 60's.Downloads
